Here’s the deal on John Mayer. Yes, he made some cheesy bubblegum pop songs when he first showed up. But here’s what happened, he made popular music, made lots of money, so he could write the music he really wanted to write (John Mayer Trio, for example). He’s simply smarter than most. He puts out culturally acceptable music (that is still better than most) so he can afford to do what he really loves (play guitar).

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room and Gravity are two defining slow jams of my generation. Speaking of a generation, he is a once in a generation talent, and I for one can’t wait for him to get back to making music. This medical leave has gone on too long.
